Wow, this topic was a hard one for me. But an old friend who wrote a book on meditation. Meditation Magic, a Course in Freedom and Dreaming put it best:
"Love lets go of the familiar and comfortable for the unknown...Relax and enjoy change. Allow life to work its magic. Letting go is not complete until it has inspired you into action. You naturally make healthier lifestyle choices...Every time you reach the point of maximum frustration, know that you are only a belly-laugh away from a breakthrough. Let go of what is it is you want to happen. Focus on gracefully surviving each difficult moment...one at a time Then watch for miracles."

Sometimes life requires us to do what we would not think of doing to make changes in our lives. Losses are not one we see as positive or helpful change. It is painful but the reverse of what we would naturally do is what happens. Let go, surrender the past, open your heart and accept the moment as it arrives...feeling your feelings as you go.
